My 2019/20 season got off to an excellent start, having been selected as on of the candidates to take part in an international masterclass with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, working on Tchaikovsky and Schumann under the guidance of Christian Ehwald (Hans Eisler Academy, Berlin).
It was also a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with the orchestra at Norwegian National Opera in October, in a masterclass covering great Nordic masterpieces with Ole Kristian Ruud (Norwegian Academy of Music), including Sibelius’s 1st Symphony. I’m looking forward to more opportunities to work with this orchestra over the coming months covering repertoire including Sibelius’s great 5th Symphony and Nilsen Symphony no. 2.
The next few months continues to be busy, with plenty of music to enjoy with ensembles in Norway, England and Scotland. More posts to follow!
After a very busy end to 2018, life in 2019 begins by settling in to life in Stavanger, Norway. Kate and I relocated from London in November 2018, and I’m looking forward to new opportunities and musical partnerships in 2019. Watch this space for more updates over the coming months!
Following a very enjoyable concert in Stavanger with James Fountain, I made my last trip to Norway for 2017 where I conducted Ila Brass Band in their Christmas Concert in Trondheim. I’m looking forward to 2018, when I’ll be returning to both Stavanger and Trondheim ahead of the Norwegian Nationals in Bergen in early February.
I’m very much looking forward to conducting Stavanger Brass Band on Sunday 26 November, featuring James Fountain as guest soloists (Principal Trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). James will join the band to play Arutiunian’s trumpet Concerto amongst other concert items.
Mor details can be found by visiting the band’s Facebook page here.
